VNS Matrix is a group of artists from different backgrounds who began with the idea of using computers to make some pornography of interest to women. We got bored pretty quickly: we found that we were more interested in looking at the social relations of technology, how women were being represented in the computer world and in popular culture in this fetishised cliched way – silver women with big tits and so on – and also how they were rendered invisible within popular culture.
